Man oh man you would think dropping kids off at school would get easier and easier each time you did it but for me that has not been the case! So many thoughts go through your head, and you hope that they are prepared. You know that they are, but you still worry or at least I do! I have learned that whatever the relationship was when they leave will continue and I am so thankful that each one of my kids has continued to let me be very involved and participate from afar. Each kid is very different, and each school experience has been very different. We have moved kids into apartments, dorms and houses, each requiring pivots and patience! This pictured room is of my youngest kiddo when he moved into The University of Oregon freshman year. I hope some of these ideas/items help spark some ideas!

Corkboard: I used a corkboard from Walmart that came in black and made the logo on my Cricut. I chose a tone on tone for the logo. Hung w/ 3M Velcro strips.

Desk Chair: Got the chair from The Office Depot- They will spend a lot of time at their desk, so we wanted it to be comfortable. Great quality and didn’t break the bank.
Desk: We have the kids take an extra monitor, so they have extra workspace if they are working on a large project for school. The adapter we used to hook the laptop up to the monitor was also purchased on Amazon.

Notepads: Ordered personalized notepads on Shutterfly. They have a bunch of different options, and they ship fast!

Wall Décor: We purchased a brick wall panel at Home Depot to warm up the space. Placed Ikea Shelves on either side for shoe storage. Ottoman at base of panel for extra storage as well as an extra seat. Always great to have extra seating in the room for visitors. Picked the ottoman up at Home Goods 😀

Bedding: Ordered both the sheets and comforter from Amazon. We LOVE these sheets! We have them on all our beds at home and they were a must for home away from home! They come in all sizes even twin XL. Comforter is also very reasonable, comes in a variety of colors. What we have learned is that it is great to layer and not have any blankets that are too thick. This way they can wash them in the school washer and dryers. I made the Oregon quilt with fabric that I ordered from Spoonflower.

Shelf Décor: Book Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, every business major at Oregon gets assigned to read this book as a freshman. The Long Run by Ben Andrews. Thought this was fitting since our kiddo runs track at Oregon as did the Author as well. Ben is a childhood friend of my husbands and is such a positive guy. The Long Run is a great motivational story about life and the twist and turns of how to stay in a positive space. Nike statue because well, its Oregon and Nike is Oregon😀

Black Out Shade: Home Depot in store and it can be cut to fit your window. Spring loaded so no extra drill holes need to be placed and it is a life saver to get that extra rest!

Laundry: Laundry pods seem to work best for college because a lot of times the laundry room is down the hall and instead of lugging a heavy bottle you can grab a few pods and throw them in a little Tupperware container! I send vinegar as well for those towels that seem to not dry out very well and get a little stinky!

Crystal: Green crystal because it is Oregon’s school color as well as the meaning of growth, good fortune and safety! How fitting for a college desk.

Trophy pencil holder: Antique I found along the way!
